This is a downloadable 23 pages practice sheet featuring the Kaosyoga, one of my very first lettering styles, if not THE first. It’s been with me for more than four years, this one, and I still love its vertical, condensed and rectangular look. It does not have the highest legibility, but it has SOUL, and it’s an excellent exercise for all letterers out there. You’ll be a master of regulating pressure and drawing straight lines when you’ve been wrestling the Kaosyoga for a while, trust me. Also, once you begin to control it, it’s one of the most fun styles to draw.
The practice sheets covers characteristics, variations and techniques, and obviously the upper and lower case alphabet, along with words and quotes.
This practice sheet is drawn with my all time favorite fin tip pens – the Pentel Sign Brush Pen, which now, as you probably know, also come in 12 pastel and muted colors that are to die for. If you want bigger letters with gradient effects, go for colored brush pens with larger tips: – the Sakura Koi the Staedtler Watercolor Brush Pens or, my favorite on uncoated paper: Ecoline Brush Pens.
