Here’s a 12-p pencil set that ranges from the hard and precise bastards (4H) to the more good-natured and soft (6B). This set is perfect for sketching, writing and drawing and will save you a lot of patience, paper and ink if used to ensure the image or words are in the right ptip BEFORE you go for those fun ink colors. The pencil is extra strong and the wood comes from PEFC certified, sustainably managed forests. Sketching with pencil before using ink or watercolor not only makes the process easier because it can be erased so you know everything is where it should be before going on with the more permanent colors. It’s also a great way to overcome that inhibition that can set in before you put pen to paper and which causes many people to actually ignore it completely. By starting with pencil, which can be erased, it is easier to get started and gradually take the step towards painting with less temporary colors. And as you can see in the video, you can also create different hard and thick lines with a regular pencil by varying the pressure and making sure that the surface is a little thick and soft. In other words, with a box of good quality pencils in many different hardnesses, you have a very good basis for both starting and developing your artistry. And if nothing else, they work well for shopping lists too. Just like all other pencils, they don’t work well on coated paper, but they look fantastic on smooth and in your notebooks, such as SOT.
