Oh my, how I have waited to present Goldfaber Aqua Dual Marker! Here, Faber-Castell has created a brush pen completely to my liking that also has the best fineliner tip that I have ever tested on such a “double pen”.

The brush tip
What you are looking at now is a large brush tip whose lines will of course be different widths depending on how hard you press, but the size allows you to get really fat, fine color lines out of that tip and you put some weight on your hand. So there are opportunities to write letters in all sorts of sizes here. It’s also easy to create natural gradients: the harder you press down on the tip, the more color is released. As you release the pressure, the color becomes lighter and less saturated. Super nice!

Fineliners
Now it gets even more interesting! Often a fineliner nib on dual markers is just “that nib at the other end” that you may not use very often, but with the Goldfaber Aqua Dual Marker I think you can rethink that. With the steel-framed fineliner tip, you have here in all seriousness an equivalent replacement for ordinary fineliners, both those that are usually black (such as Uni Pin Fine Line) and those sold in many colors as narrow markers. The precision of Goldfaber Aqua Dual Marker’s thin tip is top notch, clearly the best so far.

The colors
As the name suggests, we are dealing with water-soluble colors, 60 of them to be precise. This means that you can let the colors mix with each other by transferring color from one pen to another (for example, tip to tip) without damaging the pen – as soon as you draw the color away, you only have the original color of the pen left. It also means you can work with a brush and water, to blend, dilute or spread the colors in a wet on wet technique. The possibilities are HUGE and the colors are incredibly beautiful.

The paint does not bleed through the page, is odorless, acid-free and ph-neutral.

The plastic
And if you’re not convinced yet, I can also tell you that Faber Castell is the first company to ensure that the entire handle and cap are made from 100% recycled plastic.

So, to sum it up for those of you who have read this far (and to be honest, you probably wouldn’t have if you didn’t REALLY need this pen amIrite?), the Goldfaber Aqua Dual Marker is a luxury pen with incredible nibs and color and less environmental impact. It comes in 60 different shades and so you can pick up your own goodie bag and can thank me later.
